Roblox: a guide for parents
Roblox hosts user-created games and social experiences. Age checks are required for chat. Its 2026 account system includes Roblox Kids for ages 5–8, Roblox Select for ages 9–15 and standard Roblox for age-checked users 16+. Chat options vary by age and region, and some allow Trusted Friends known outside Roblox. Age estimation is not infallible; check the assigned age and available controls together.

Why All ages (rated by experience)?
The age limit, explained
Account age, content ratings and permission to chat are different things. Roblox describes Kids accounts as accessing selected Minimal/Mild games and Select accounts as accessing selected Minimal/Mild/Moderate games. Restricted content is for ages 18+. Parents can link an account to manage games, chat, friends, screen time and spending. During the transition described by Roblox, some game access uses a self-declared age; chat still requires an age check. Check the official guide for current regional options.

How to start the conversation
- Link your own parent account and check that your child’s account age is correct. Never use an adult’s ID or face to give a child an adult account.
- Review the chat permissions available for their age and region. An age check enables some features; it is not a guarantee that every interaction is safe.
- Review friends and games together, then choose game, screen-time and spending limits through the linked parent account.
- Agree what to do if anyone asks them to move a conversation to another app or offers free Robux.
