In a 2022 test, CCDH researchers used accounts registered as 13-year-olds and engaged with body-image and mental-health content. Some received suicide or eating-disorder recommendations within minutes. This is historical test-account research, not a measure of every teenager’s feed today.

In September 2023, Ireland’s DPC announced €345 million in administrative fines over TikTok’s handling of children’s personal data during July–December 2020. The findings included public-by-default settings; they do not describe today’s defaults.
